A Land Transportation Office (LTO) district office drew the attention of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after a client complained about its “slow” service.
Automotive publication VISOR on Thursday, August 21, posted a reader-submitted photo showing a complaint sent to the Facebook page of Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro regarding the “very slow” service of LTO Marikina.
“Sobrang bagal po ng proseso tapos nag-break time pa, as in, walang galaw ‘yung pila,” the sender told the mayor’s page.
“Pumila ako 8 a.m., til now hindi pa ako napo-proseso, as in walang Step 1,” the sender added.
VISOR shared a screengrab of the message it received, along with a more detailed account from the sender.
“Pumila ako LTO Marikina — 8 a.m. till 12 noon, wala pa ako sa Step 1. Sobrang bagal ng proseso. Relaks lang ang mga inspector. Akala nila ‘yung mga tao, nakapila at wala ng ibang lakad. First ko lang pumila nang ganitong katagal,” the sender said.
“Usually sa LTO La Loma ako; wala pang 1 hour, tapos na. Dito nag-break time pa ‘yung LTO personnel [ng] 10 a.m.? Simula nun, pa-isa-isa na lang ang inspect sa motor, which is pwede naman diskartehan kung concerned sila. Mga galit pa sila ‘pag nag-a-ask kami kung bakit matagal,” the sender added.
“Ang problem dito, ‘pag tapos mo ma-inspect, aabot ka kaya sa loob ng office for another process na naman ng papers? Only in the Philippines talaga,” the sender continued.
The post drew the attention of the DOTr’s official Facebook account, which said it had already forwarded the complaint to the LTO.
“Thanks for posting this, na-forward na po namin ito sa Land Transportation Office-Philippines. Pasensya na po sa inconvenience. Patingnan namin ito agad,” the DOTr said in the comments with a folded hands emoji, tagging the LTO’s page.
“For the Visor reader, please message us po also para makakuha po kami ng mas maraming detalye. Salamat po!” it added.
Meanwhile, other Filipinos shared that they also experienced similar problems at the same LTO office.
“Same. Daming nag-re-rekalamo [diyan]. ‘Yung isang lalake dyian, sabi niya, ‘Punta kayo ng 6 a.m. para maaga kayo matawag. ‘Wag kayong magalit kasi volunteer lang kami dito, pag umalis kami kami dito, wala mag-aasikaso sa inyo.’ Napakainit pa. Sila pa galit ‘pag nag-reklamo ka,” a Facebook user said.
“Pahabol.
At walang waiting area. Pero ‘pag natapos na yung actual vehicle inspection, mabilis na sa bayaran. Sandali nga lang madadampian ng aircon ang balat,” a different online user wrote.
The LTO is the government agency in charge of issuing driver’s licenses, registering motor vehicles, collecting related fees and fines and releasing vehicle license plates.
