JuanFlix, the official streaming platform of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), has announced its return in early 2026 following a temporary pause, promising a better and more accessible viewing experience for audiences.
In a Facebook post on Friday, December 26, the platform confirmed the news, writing, “JUANFLIX IS COMING BACK IN 2026!” The announcement sparked renewed excitement among viewers who have followed the platform since its launch.
“Get ready—your home for favorite Filipino classics and fresh finds from local and world cinema returns next year!” the post read.
“As we look forward to seeing you again, we celebrate every story that has brought us together and continues to shape the future of Philippine cinema. See you soon, JuanFlix fam!”
Originally launched in 2020 as The FDCP Channel, the mobile app was rebranded into JuanFlix in 2022. It is a streaming space that would bridge film preservation and contemporary storytelling.
It was also relaunched last September 27 before it hit pause.
For the past three years, JuanFlix has worked to build a community of film enthusiasts and creators.
“For the past three years, we have been building a community that shares a collective appreciation for the art of filmmaking,” the platform said.
“JuanFlix provides a platform for student filmmakers, creatives, and established filmmakers, allowing them to reach a broader audience for their works. Our mission at JuanFlix has always been to make the art of film more accessible to a wider audience,” it added.
The FDCP-backed platform acknowledged that it had to temporarily halt operations, describing the decision as “tough but necessary.” Despite the pause, JuanFlix assured subscribers that improvements are underway.
“The good news? Juanflix is coming back in early 2026, better and easier to enjoy than before!” the statement read.
It highlighted its programming range, from “a curated collection of restored classics and rare finds from our archives, to the freshest and boldest narratives from the next generation of filmmakers that go beyond the country’s borders.”
Addressing its subscribers, JuanFlix expressed appreciation for their patience and support. “We’ve heard you, we see you, and we appreciate your patience,” the team said, adding that “active subscribers will have their plans extended once JuanFlix returns.”
Subscribers who choose not to continue were informed that refund requests are available, while those opting to keep their subscriptions will be contacted upon the platform’s relaunch.
“Thank you for sticking with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back to a new and improved JuanFlix, your home for Filipino stories, creativity, and cinema magic!” it said.
