Beauty queen and actress Precious Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz said that she is “tired” of hiding her white hair.

The Miss International 2005 titleholder shared a video showing white strands growing from her roots, with some also visible on top of her head.

“Ilang taon ko tinago, tiniis, tinakpan… and I’m done. Pagod na ako. Ayoko na,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday, May 13.

In the video, Lara was seen parting her hair to show her white roots while smiling at the camera.

She then shared that having white hair at an early age is a trait that runs in their family.

“The first time I saw a white hair on my head, I was 12 years old. Since my early thirties, I have been dyeing my hair almost every two weeks just to cover the whites we got from our papa,” the 43-year-old said.

“You see, my papa already had almost fully white hair in his 30s. My brothers, my sister, and I all have a head full of whites and greys,” Lara added.

“I’m finally letting go of ‘perfection’ and embracing my God-given white hair that comes not just with age, but with genetics too. So call me lola or grandma, it’s okay… I’m going to try and rock this white hair,” she continued.

The beauty queen also asked if her followers can “join” in her journey toward embracing white hair.

“I know it’s not going to be easy because sometimes I look in the mirror and just want to cover it all up again. That’s why I’m posting this now… to give myself courage… Will you help me? Maybe even join me on this journey?” Lara said.

Among those who reacted to her post was host Camille Prats, who said she found Lara’s post “inspiring.”

“You are amazing!!!! My whites are starting to show and I’m contemplating whether I should dye or not. This is so inspiring!!!” she commented.

Actress Jennica Garcia also complimented Lara.

“ANG GANDA MO SOBRA, KAHIT ANONG COLOR NG HAIR!!!!!” she exclaimed with a heart-eyed emoji.

Experts said that hair does not actually turn gray.

“Your hair follicles produce less color as they age, so when hair goes through its natural cycle of dying and being regenerated, it’s more likely to grow in as gray beginning after age 35. Genetics can play a role in when this starts,” an article from Harvard Health Publishing reads.
