Singer Bugoy Drilon drew attention after screenshots from a livestream prompted comparisons to actor Derek Ramsay.
Reports said the former “Pinoy Dream Academy” contestant went on a TikTok Live wearing a blue cap and a white polo shirt.
From some angles, Filipinos said the singer resembled the actor, who is known for wearing caps and sporting facial hair. Derek is also recognized for his chiseled cheekbones.
Posts featuring Bugoy’s screengrabs went viral on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), where Filipinos shared their reactions to the resemblance.
“Bumungad ta’s hindi ko pa nababasa caption, sabi ko kagad, ‘Ano na naman issue nitong Derek na ‘to.’ Maliiiii,” an online user wrote with a crying emoji.
“[First] look pa lang. Si Derek talaga napansin ko agad. Kung wala sa caption name ni Bugoy. ‘Di ko malalaman si Bugoy pala ‘yan. Haha! Hawig na hawig nga,” another commented with a laughing emoji.
“Hala, akala ko si Derek talaga, hahahaha,” a different Pinoy wrote.
“Kala ko rin Derek Ramsay, haha. Mabuti na lang binasa ko,” another said.
“Akala ko din si Derek Ramsay sa unang tingin,” a different online user wrote.
In another post, a Facebook user claimed that Bugoy had undergone some enhancements, alleging that he looked different in the past.
“Retokado! ‘Di naman ganyan itsura mo dati,” the online user commented.
Bugoy denied this claim.
“Maging mabuting tao, ‘yan po sikreto… all natural po ‘yan..” the singer responded in the comments section.
Bugoy is a singer who placed second in the second season of the music reality show “Pinoy Dream Academy” in 2008.
He previously worked as a canteen janitor at a university and is the son of a farmer from Camarines Sur.
Bugoy is now an R&B-soul artist who collaborated with international act Music Travel Love in 2024.
