Sony Music Entertainment has launched its newest P-Pop group, AYO, a seven-member act composed of Justin, Renzo, GV, TJ, Enzo, Zack and Patrick.
The group’s name comes from the Cebuano word “maayo,” meaning talented, and is also commonly used as a call for attention, reflecting the group’s intent to stand out in the growing P-Pop scene.
Identity and self-expression
In a press statement, the group emphasized how their individual backgrounds contribute to their collective identity.
“Within our group, we each bring different strengths and come from varied backgrounds,” AYO said.
“Instead of letting that highlight our individuality alone, we turn it into a collective advantage. ‘I’m Him’ represents our confidence in our individual strengths—but more importantly, it’s about expressing them together as one, in harmony.”
The pre-debut single “I’m Him” explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and individuality, encouraging listeners to embrace both strengths and imperfections.
Sound and production
The track is produced by Paolo Lofranco, incorporating hip-hop-driven beats, layered textures, and bold vocal arrangements.
The group also took part in the songwriting and production process.
“We’re incredibly grateful to be working with our producer on this song,” AYO said.
“It is a song he already made even before AYO was formed. Undoubtedly, it captures the core of AYO’s DNA. Moving forward, we’re excited to create and write more of our music while continuing to explore different sounds and genres.”
Music video concept
The music video, directed by ODS Productions, visually presents the group’s contrasting identities through two settings: an industrial warehouse and a helipad scene.
According to the group, the concept reflects their duality as performers.
AYO also acknowledged the production team behind the video.
“They were able to fully embody our vision as artists and translate it into reality with precision and care. It’s also a pleasure collaborating with a team that shares the same passion and drive that we have for creativity,” the group said.
“We look forward to growing this partnership further and building a stronger, more active creative community in Davao—and eventually across Mindanao.”
Rising P-Pop act
AYO is part of Sony Music Entertainment’s expanding lineup of P-Pop acts, positioning itself as a group that embraces both discipline and experimentation in sound and performance.
Their debut track “I’m Him” is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide.
