Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto showed solidarity with Filipinos protesting corruption by sharing images captured by local photographers during the September 21 protests on his Instagram account.
On Wednesday, September 24, the “Freakier Friday” star shared images of protestors holding placards and demanding accountability amid the corruption allegations surrounding flood control projects.
One of the photos showed an individual wearing apparel with the text: “KULONG MGA KURAP”

Fight against corruption
On Sunday, September 21, thousands of Filipinos gathered at the EDSA Shrine, the People Power Monument and Rizal Park to collectively demand accountability over the flood control corruption scandal. Some also flocked to various parts of the country to join nationwide protests.
Congress is currently investigating alleged anomalies in flood control projects, with former Department of Public Works and Highways officials and lawmakers reportedly receiving kickbacks.
Earlier this month, former DPWH Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez displayed alleged bundles of cash intended “for delivery” to politicians as part of the flood control kickback scheme.
The kickback scheme reportedly involves proponents of flood control projects, or politicians, receiving a cut from the funds allocated for the initiatives.
As part of the investigation, ten DPWH’s officials have been ordered to explain their alleged “lavish lifestyle” and involvement in substandard or “ghost” projects.
