“It’s Showtime” host-actress Anne Curtis voiced her support for fellow showbiz personality Angel Locsin, who once again broke her social media hiatus to speak out against corruption.

Angel, who has been on social media break since stepping back from showbiz, surprised Filipinos on Sunday, September 21, when she posted the following lyrics from “Anak ka ng Pu!” on her account.

“Ang sa amin, galing sa hirap — ang sa inyo, galing sa mahihirap,” the actress wrote on X (formerly Twitter) with a pensive face emoji.

She also added “#stopthecorruption” hashtag on her post.

Angel’s post quickly gained attention, racking up 2.4 million views, 106,000 likes, 1,100 bookmarks, 43,000 reposts, and over 350 comments.

The post featured lyrics from “Anak ka ng Pu!” by Morobeats, a song aimed at criticizing government officials accused of misusing Filipino taxpayers’ money.

Among those who saw Angel’s post was Anne, who attended the anti-corruption rally on Sunday, dubbed the “Trillion Peso March,” at EDSA.

“My girl is back out to raise her voice! GO, MARS!!!!!!!!” Anne said in a repost.

“#STOPTHECORRUPTION,” the host-actress added.

Similar to Angel’s post, Anne’s social media update also went viral, garnering one million views, 64,000 likes and 8,600 reposts.

Anne also shared photos of herself on the streets during the rally, including one holding a placard that read, “Manindigan, Lumaban, Makialam.”

Her husband, restaurateur and content creator Erwan Heussaff, was also spotted among the crowd at EDSA.

On the same day, Angel also shared a message on her Instagram Story, saying she is one with Filipinos in “fighting corruption.”

“Watching the hearings, I couldn’t help but remember the messages and news of people begging for help. Families with homes washed away, parents who lost their works, lives lost to floods [or] typhoons. Naiiyak ako sa galit. Kasi pwede pa lang hindi sila naghirap. Pwede pa lang walang nasaktan. Pwede pa lang walang namatay,” she wrote.

Thousands of Filipinos took to the streets on Sunday to demand accountability over alleged government corruption, particularly involving flood control projects.

Congress is currently investigating reported anomalies in these initiatives, with some contractors and government officials facing scrutiny over their lavish lifestyles and ostentatious displays of wealth.

On break

Meanwhile, Angel has largely stayed off social media since taking a hiatus from showbiz.

She was last seen on television in 2020, appearing in on ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID for that year and when she hosted the public service program “Iba ‘Yan” until 2021.

The actress stepped back from public life and stopped posting personally on her social media accounts, although she occasionally breaks her hiatus.

Notable exceptions include addressing a hacking incident on her X account and expressing support for her stepson, Joaquin Arce, as he entered the showbiz industry. — with reports from Philstar.com/Kathleen Llemit
