Actor-TV host Luis Manzano raised awareness about ocean pollution after sharing footage from one of his recent dives.

The showbiz personality, who has been scuba diving since 2007, posted a video of himself diving in Batangas, surrounded by floating trash.

“PAKI-SHARE PO — Paalala po. Itapon sa tama ang basura natin, iwan naman natin ang kagandahan at kalinisan ng dagat sa mga anak natin,” he wrote on Instagram on Saturday, September 6.

When a commenter asked him if the video was taken in Batangas, Luis confirmed that it was.

In 2017, the host was named a Marine Conservation Steward for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a global conservation organization.

At the time, Luis shared how his diving experiences deeply affected him, especially whenever he witnessed the ocean being polluted.

“May mga dive na ang sarap-sarap ng dive mo, pero makakasalubong mo plastic, makakasalubong mo basura,” he previously said.

“So many beautiful fishes dito, so many beautiful corals, biglang may nakapatong na kung anu-ano,” the host added.

“Minsan, sa isang diving site, puntahan mo, let’s say, January,” Luis shared.

“Minsan, pagdating sa end of the year, iba na ‘yung hitsura at dahil nag-iiiba na nga ‘yung temperature ng tubig… it all boils down to climate change,” he added.

“Sometimes, I sound redundant, but para sa’kin, it’s the main point na you cannot wait for other people to take care of the planet. Hindi puwedeng, ‘Hindi, next generation na lang, kaya na nila ‘yan!'” the host said.

According to a 2024 report by Climate Impact Tracker, the Philippines was identified as the “world’s largest contributor to ocean plastic waste.”
