The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is encouraging the public to commemorate Independence Day through its limited-edition 125-Piso Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood (APIN) Commemorative Coin Set.
Originally issued in 2023, the commemorative set features three non-circulation legal tender coins that depict significant events in the country’s journey to freedom and nationhood.
According to the BSP, the coins were minted using digital printing technology and are the central bank’s first colored non-circulation coin series.
The set includes a 100-piso coin commemorating the 1898 Declaration of Philippine Independence, a 20-piso coin marking the birth of the First Philippine Republic at Barasoain Church, and a 5-piso coin honoring the valor of Filipinos during the Philippine-American War.
In an Independence Day post, the BSP described the collection as “a lasting tribute to Philippine bravery, unity, and nationhood” and invited the public to own “a piece of Philippine history” through the commemorative coin set.
The APIN commemorative coin set is available in limited quantities for P6,000.
“More than a collectible, this set embodies the spirit of bravery, unity and nationhood,” it said.
