Food content creator Erwan Heussaff shared his thoughts on political beliefs and friendships amid online discussions surrounding the topic.

The FEATR founder on Thursday, May 14 responded to a question posted on Threads by Filipino-Australian photographer and content creator Zac Alviz.

“Is it really worth throwing away years of friendship because you have different political opinions?” Zac asked.

Zac’s post caught Erwan’s attention, prompting him to share his thoughts on the matter.

“Political opinions, no. But if it crosses into moral territory, yes,” Erwan commented.

“I.e [That is] If someone was the most charitable person you knew, but was also a known sexual abuser. If you can tolerate that and support that person, it says a lot about one’s moral character,” he added.

He further elaborated on his stance in another reply.

“Another red flag is if a person can only say positive things about their chosen politicians,” Erwan added.

“We all know no one is perfect or even close to it, so if you can’t challenge your own beliefs, we can’t be friends,” he continued.

“We should constantly practice discernment. Not blindly defend the people we support, but regularly question whether our choices still align with our values,” Erwan said.

Erwan’s remarks on political beliefs and friendships come amid ongoing discussions on the topic, with some Filipinos criticizing TV host Bianca Gonzalez over her ties to Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez.

Bianca previously made headlines for responding to claims that she was being “performative” in her criticisms of current events.

The TV personality expressed disappointment over the shakeup in the Senate earlier this week, which unseated then-Senate President Tito Sotto III and installed then-Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano in the role.

Some brought up Bianca’s friendship with Toni and Mariel, who hold different political views.

Bianca publicly supported former vice president and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo during the 2022 presidential elections, in which Robredo ran against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Toni, meanwhile, supported Marcos during the campaign period, while Mariel is married to Sen. Robin Padilla, an ally of the Dutertes.

Bianca rejected claims that she was being “performative” and said that she has been advocating for good governance “since pre-social media days.”

“Hindi po ako ang kalaban,” she said.

In a previous interview with DJ Chacha last month, the TV host said that she, Toni, and Mariel have never allowed their political differences to affect their friendship.

The three were collectively known as “Kuya’s Angels” because of their stint as hosts of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother.”
