A man was caught placing a shirt on the statue of former president Manuel L. Quezon in the town of Real in Quezon Province.
Reports said the man dressed up the monument on the night of April 15 by putting a red printed shirt on it
The man, identified as Jonathan, said he found the monument dirty and decided to clean it. He also dressed it using his own shirt.
Real, Quezon Mayor Julie Ann Macasaet said that what he did was wrong, adding that there is a law protecting monuments or memorials from damage and defacement.
Jonathan vowed that he would never repeat the offense. He also offered to help maintain the statue’s surroundings through cleaning and planting activities.
“Pigil tuloy tawa si mayor,” a Facebook user wrote.
“Lakas ng tama mo, idol,” another commented with a laughing emoji.
“Napa-smile din talaga ako [nang] malala, hahaha,” a different Pinoy said.
“Laughtrip, hahaha,” another commented.
