“Allergic yern?”
A spelling error on a tarpaulin at an event in Laoac, Pangasinan, amused Filipinos after it printed “Senior Citizen’s Night” incorrectly.
Facebook user Nathaniell Laguan on Monday, April 6, uploaded an old video, saying he wanted to bring good vibes to Filipinos dealing with the oil crisis and rising costs of other commodities.
In an interview, he said he recorded the video on Dec. 21, 2025.
Laguan said they only noticed the error after finishing the setup of the event backdrop, which was part of an activity for the “young at heart” in relation to the fiesta in Barangay Maraboc in the town.
The tarpaulin printed the following: “Senior Cetirizen Night.”
“‘Yong nagpa-print noon, pati siya nga po eh, tawang-tawa sa kinalabasan,” Laguan said in the interview.
They attempted to correct the spelling by removing “RI” from the tarp, but it only amused them further, as the resulting word, “CETIZEN,” was still incorrect.
“Basta, ‘yon na po ‘yon! Hahahaha,” Laguan said.
“Grabe ang lauf [laugh] ko HAHAHAHA. Very [very] late post,” he wrote on Facebook.
The video similarly amused other Filipinos, who joked that it was an event for “allergic” people.
The original misspelling, “Cetirizen,” also sounded similar to cetirizine, a medication used to treat allergy symptoms.
“Allergic yern?” an online user commented.
“May allergic rhinitis siguro ‘yung nag-layout,” another Pinoy wrote.
“Itchy night?” another account commented.
“Senior ang nag-print, malamang,” a different Facebook user joked.
Meanwhile, text to be printed on tarpaulins should be carefully proofread before production, as printing makes any errors permanent.
