A dental clinic’s signage amused Filipinos with its literal take on the phrase “near me,” commonly used in online search engines.
On February 19, Facebook user Kirk Patrix shared a photo of the sign, “Dentist Near Me,” which belongs to GL Smile Solutions Dental Clinic Co.
“Kumbaga, ‘pag nag-search ka ng Dentist near me, siya ‘yung lalabas eh no, hahahaha, mautak ka, Doc,” he wrote with a clapping hands emoji.
Kirk’s Facebook post has garnered 4,600 shares, along with several reactions and 631 comments so far.
Days later, the post caught the attention of a dentist, who said they are “building that brand name.”
The dentist added that the clinic in San Joaquin, Pasig City is their “first branch.”
“[Thanks] for noticing and getting the humor out of it, haha. Would like to personally thank you, sir, and give you free cleaning and check up, plus, big discounts on your dental needs, bigyan mo lang ako ng sched na pwede ka,” the dentist said in a message.
Kirk later thanked the dentist for the offer.
“Near me” is a search engine keyword that uses a user’s geolocation to find nearby, relevant services. Such searches typically trigger local, map-based results.
For example, you can type “coffee shops near me” or “restaurants near me” to discover places close to your location.
This provides instant results for sites or establishments you can visit, based on your proximity as detected by the search engine.
