A Threads user drew criticism for shaming their neighbor, who turned out to be a small business owner selling affordable Japanese meals.

On January 2, a Reddit user posted a screenshot of a Threads post showing photos of a condominium unit, accompanied by the caption, “[‘Di ko] ma-gets bakit ganito mga neighbors ko…”

The photos showed a menu offering meals and shelves inside the condo unit filled with various food products.

The screenshot also included a reply from the person occupying the condo unit shown in the images.

“Grabe si kuya,” the Redditor said.

The Reddit post has earned around 4,000 upvotes.

While the original Threads post is no longer available as of this writing, the replies from the condo unit occupant remain accessible on the Meta-owned platform.

FYI [For Your Information], this area is a commercial space [or] retail area,” the business owner replied.

Sana nag-door bell ka at tinanong mo ako bakit kami nagtitinda,” the owner added.

The reply has garnered around 5,000 likes from other users.

In the replies section, the business owner, who identifies as Cheche Cruz Okawa, said their is to sell “affordable but authentic Japanese food,” adding that their customers are “mostly students and seaman trainees.”

Okawa said the business is located at Tower A of Adriatico Gardens in Malate, Manila.

In a separate Threads post, she clarified that the business operates in a “commercial area” and is “not a high-end condo as implied.”

“Taking photos of private property (your door or signage) and posting them with malicious intent can be considered harassment or defamation, depending on impact,” Okawa said, condemning the online user who called them out.

Meanwhile, some Filipinos expressed appreciation for her business, saying it is convenient for fellow occupants in the area, who can purchase meals and other consumables on-site instead of going out.

“If I live at the same condo, I would appreciate this one. ‘Di na kailangan bababa talaga sa ground floor just to buy some of my needs,” a Threads user wrote.

“This is actually very convenient, especially at late-night needs inside or within the condo premises, minsan nga hinahatid pa sa unit,” another commented.

Kudos to OP [Original Poster]! Sobrang helpful mo!” the Threads user added.

In one of her replies, Okawa said they are not the only business operating in the area, adding that other condo occupants also run a travel and tours agency, a law firm, an Airbnb and more.
