In a heartwarming moment, a daughter surprised her sleeping parents by returning home from her job abroad.
Resie Guzman and her husband arrived back in the Philippines to spend Christmas with their families, keeping their travel plans under wraps for a heartfelt reunion.
Footage shows Gregorio Guzman, 67 and Lolita Guzman, 68, resting in a room with their other children in Orion, Bataan, late on the night of December 23.
Moments later, Resie entered the bedroom, switched on the light, and sat on the bed behind her father.
Curious about the movement behind him, Gregorio turned around just as Resie leaned in for a hug, beaming with delight.
Gregorio appeared visibly confused, glancing at his other daughter, who was filming, before looking back at Resie.
Upon realizing it was his girl, he embraced her tightly, overcome with emotion, and called out to his wife.
Lolita, who had been woken by the commotion, turned over and hugged Resie while the rest of the family laughed with joy.
The moved parents were seen in tears as they embraced Resie, who had been away for a long time.
“My husband and I live abroad, and we decided to spend Christmas in the Philippines. My parents knew we were coming home, but they didn’t know exactly when. My siblings were my accomplices. I told them to make sure my father slept at home that night, as he usually goes to the farm every evening to check on his water pump,” Resie said.
Resie posted the video of her homecoming on TikTok and Facebook.
“Hindi talaga iindahin ang haba ng biyahe. The best feeling in the world! Mahal ko kayo palagi Nay & Tay!” she wrote.
Resie’s video has so far garnered 2.1 million views, 101,000 likes, 744 comments and 791 shares on Facebook. On TikTok, it has earned 3.6 million views, 115,500 likes, 1,982 comments and 3,324 bookmarks.
