A car owner’s complaint about a cat’s behavior sparked discussions about parking spaces and responsible car ownership.
On Sunday, December 28, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of a post they found on Meta-owned Threads, in which someone complained about a cat defecating on their vehicle.
“Saw this on Thread, it really made my day, lol,” the Redditor said in the “r/pinoy” community, earning 1,100 upvotes and over 70 comments.
The post features a Threads user sharing a photo of a cat grooming itself atop a residential gate.
“Pwedeng makiusap sa may-ari ng pusang ito. Halos araw-araw ng ginagawang banyo ang ibabaw ng kotse ko,” the Threads user wrote on November 10.
“Kung ‘di nyo kayang maglinis ng dumi nila, itali niyo [nang] ‘di makaperwisyo. Bukod pa sa scratches na ginagawa nito sa car ko. May CCTV ako, ‘wag niyo sabihin nag-iimbento ako,” the Threads user said.
Despite having been shared for over a month, the post caught the attention of another Threads user, who said the car owner “deserved” what the cat was doing to the car.
“[Tsaka] ka na mag-rant ‘pag may sarili ka ng parking space! For now, DESERVE mo ‘yan,” the Threads user commented on December 28.
The comment has earned about 2,000 likes from other users.
“Leave the cats alone. The street is not your parking space,” another Threads user said.

It also drew the attention of other Redditors, who condemned the car owner for the rant.
“Even if the cat [weren’t] there, bats, birds and all other animals of the world would be s*itting on top of it. That’s the price you have to accept and s*it you have to shovel off if you can’t afford to put a roof over it,” a Reddit user said.
“When you park outside, you expose your car to the elements, which include animals. Park at your own risk. Lol,” another Redditor wrote.
“Saway pusa gusto, gawa parking space na sarili, ayaw. Bahala ka diyan,” a different user commented.
“Hirap talaga sa ugali ng mga Pinoy, bibili ka ng kotse ta’s wala pang garahe,” another Redditor said.
In the Philippines, especially in urban areas, it is not unusual for residents to park their vehicles outside their homes if they do not have garages.
This often results in one lane of the road being occupied by parked vehicles, which can lead to traffic congestion when vehicular volume is high.
In 2022, a bill was filed in the House of Representatives proposing that aspiring motor vehicle owners in Metro Manila and other major cities be required to have their own garage or parking space before purchasing a car.
“Private cars are easy to own and cheap to use. While traffic congestion can be the result of a myriad of causes, the same is exacerbated by car owners who routinely use public roads as parking spaces,” former Marinduque representative Lord Allan Velasco said before.
The bill remains pending before the House Committee on Transportation.
