Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and its partner agencies seized over 30,000 ceramic plumbing fixtures and steel products lacking proper standards and import commodity clearance during a nationwide crackdown on Wednesday, October 22.
The confiscated goods, valued at P4.6 million (approximately 78,000 dollars), are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to uphold quality and safety standards in the consumer goods market.
Among the officials who led the ceremonial destruction of the violative steel products and ceramic plumbing wares at the DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) warehouse in Marikina City were Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, FTEB Director Regino Mallari Jr. and Assistant Director Marimel Porciuncula.
