
A death care company has been lauded for offering free funeral services to those who lost their lives in the deadly magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu on September 30.
Reddit users on Thursday, October 2, praised St. Peter Life Plans and Chapels for extending free services to the victims of the tremor, which claimed at least 72 lives and displaced thousands.

“Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to all our Kababayans in Cebu affected by the devastating earthquake. St. Peter Life Plan and Chapels stands in unwavering solidarity with you during this difficult time,” it said in a statement.
“St. Peter Chapels will provide free funeral services for those who lost their lives and extend support to their grieving families affected by the Cebu earthquake,” the death care company added.
The company stated that the following branches will be providing free funeral services: St. Peter Chapels – Bantayan, St. Peter Chapels – Bogo, Pandan and St. Peter Chapels – Danao.

The initiative was noticed by a Reddit user, who posted about it in the “r/Philippines” community.
“Wow, sobrang bait naman ng St. Peter,” the uploader wrote.
“Saludo!” another Redditor exclaimed.
“Wow!!! God bless [you] more,” a different Reddit user commented.
“In this time of need. Thank you! But I pray na wala ng instances na ganito. Ang sakit sa puso,” another said.
The lives of Cebuanos were upended by the powerful magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck off the coast of Bogo City earlier this week.
The tremor, felt at varying intensities across the region, damaged multiple structures, including a century-old church, and triggered power outages in parts of the central Philippines.

Some residents still report feeling dizzying sensations days after the strong tremor.
The Cebu Chapter of the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) is facilitating free psychosocial support to Cebuanos to help them process their emotions and experiences following the disaster.
