The “Laudato Si: Care for creation” contest challenges everyone to create short films on environment and climate.

Organizers from Radio Veritas Asia said the competition seeks to bring to life the message of Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’, which calls for urgent action to protect the planet.

Asia, home to diverse cultures and rich biodiversity, also faces severe ecological challenges, including deforestation, pollution, climate change and displacement from natural disasters, RVA said.

“This contest aims to amplify voices and stories that highlight both the beauty of creation and the pressing environmental challenges we face,” it said.

Contest entries are expected to capture both the region’s natural beauty and the threats it faces.

The theme, “Laudato Si: Care for Creation,” emphasizes ecological conversion and encourages communities to take transformative steps in environmental stewardship.

The contest is open to individual filmmakers, students, social communications ministries, organizations, parishes, schools and other institutions, regardless of nationality, but films must focus on Asian contexts.

Entries should run 3 to 5 minutes, be produced in English or carry English subtitles, and meet full HD technical standards. Each participant or group may submit one entry only. Use of artificial intelligence tools is allowed but may affect scoring.

Films will be judged on thematic relevance, creativity, technical quality, impact and clarity of message. A panel of filmmakers and media professionals from Asia will select the winners.

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Philippine time.
