A clever resident used a kitten to call its mother back home.

Aisha Nicolle Caayao had to grab one of the newborn kittens to capture the attention of Toffee Copperclaw, the mixed Persian-Siamese mother cat, in Bulacan.

Footage shows the small tabby crying while being held by Aisha on August 12.

She then stood in front of the window and extended the kitten so Toffee could see it.

Moments later, the alerted mother cat turned around, briefly stared at Aisha, and then jumped through the window to tend to her baby.

“I used the kitten to call our mama cat. She had been missing since that morning, and the kittens were very hungry. I kept calling her, but she wasn’t responding or paying attention. So, I used her baby to make her hear the cry, and it worked,” Caayao said.

Toffee was adopted by Caayao and her boyfriend, Joshua, from their neighbor.

She recalled that the cat often roams the area and had recently given birth to three kittens.

Caayao posted the video of the heartwarming moment on her social media accounts. On TikTok, it garnered 418,300 views, 51,800 likes, 314 comments and 1,513 saves.

“When your mama cat doesn’t wanna go home, use her child as a weapon,” she captioned her post.

“Ayaw mo umuwi ha,” the text on the video also read.

Several online users were amused by the mother-and-kitten moment, leaving comments imagining what the mama cat might have been thinking.

“POV: gusto mong gumala, tas naalala mo nanay ka nga pala,” a TikTok user commented.

“‘Uuwi naman ako, hindi mo na kailangan idamay anak ko'” another wrote.

“‘Ako ang kailangan mo, bakit kailangan idamay pati anak ko…'” a different online user commented.

“‘Nagpapahinga lang ako, ginising mo pa talaga yan,'” another quipped.

In the comments section, Caayao said that the elder cat is truly a “responsible mom.”

“Very responsible mom po talaga siya, time to time nagpapa-dede hehe,” Caayao told a TikTok user.
