A dramatic moment occurred when a stray cat rampaged through a bedroom and attacked a sleeping family.

Gerelden Almero was resting alongside his wife and daughter, who were napping on the bed when the moggy fell from the roof in Davao Oriental, Philippines.

CCTV footage shows the frantic tabby crashing onto the floor last month. The video was uploaded on social media on July 14, garnering 847,000 views on Facebook so far.

The visibly confused feline then sprinted around the room, running over Gerelden and his eight-year-old daughter as it searched for a way out.

The man then used his pillow to shoo the cat out of the house.

“Our roof is already old and brittle, which is why the cat fell through. My daughter and I sustained scratches from the animal, so we immediately went to the hospital to get anti-rabies shots,” Almero said.

In his post, Almero said he was grateful the cat landed on him first and not on his children.

“Thank you Lord,” he captioned his post.

Stray cats can carry rabies and transmit the virus through bites and scratches. While dogs are the most common carriers of rabies in the Philippines, cats account for nearly 29 per cent of reported exposure cases.
