An unexpected guest turned up on today’s red carpet arranged at the Batasang Pambansa Complex where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr will deliver his first State of the Nation Address.
A news outlet on Monday morning reported that an orange-and-white cat walked the red carpet before the guests arrived at the venue.
CNN Philippines captured the moment on video which showed the feline walking toward the carpet. It then assumed a sitting position and observed its surroundings.
The cat then gave out a yawn, licked its paws and briefly licked itself before looking at its surroundings anew.
The video has earned over 3,300 views on Twitter.
It also expectedly earned some comments from social media users.
“Miming for president,” a Pinoy quipped.
“Baka may hinahanap na daga?” another Twitter user said with emojis.
“Probably my favorite part of the SONA. Cat walking and yawning,” wrote a different Filipino with a laughing cat emoji.
Others referenced the video game that’s been recently gaining online buzz.
“Stray (2022),” a Twitter user said.
“Stray” is an adventure game in which the player assumes the identity of an orange tabby cat whose mission is to find a way out of an abandoned world inhabited by droids.
The red carpet is rolled out every SONA for the guests composed of lawmakers from the Upper and Lower Chambers, Cabinet members and former government officials.
During which, they grant interviews, showcase their respective attires or model a designer’s piece, or use fashion to make political statements.
