Filipinos were warned about a Facebook page posting AI-generated video reports and fake news.
On Thursday, October 16, a Reddit user raised awareness about a page called “Edukasyon News Channel,” claiming it shares misleading AI-generated reports.
“Posting for awareness: This page is posting AI news,” the Redditor said in the “r/pinoy” community, sharing a screengrab of the Facebook page.
“Gosh! This page is soooo alarming. ‘Yung mga comment ng mga matatanda, paniwalang-paniwala sila. Nakakabahala kasi mukhang totoo pero ‘pag tinitigan at pinakinggan mo nang maigi, alam mo agad na AI,” the Reddit user said.
The Redditor also appealed to other users to report the page so it can be taken down.

The page identifies as a “Digital Creator” and has 2.6 million followers.
According to its Page Transparency details, the page was created on Sept. 7, 2025, under the name “Malasakit News Channel,” before being changed to its current name on September 14.
A look at the page reveals it has posted fabricated news, including a claim that “temporary lockdowns” will be imposed in various parts of the country starting October 17 due to the spread of influenza-like illness.
However, there have been no legitimate announcements or reports of “lockdowns,” although class suspensions have been issued in response to the rise in such cases.
The page also claimed that the Department of Education has released an order setting dates for a “school break” for the Academic Year 2025-2026.
The order referenced, DepEd Order No. 12 (series of 2025), is actually about the “Multi-Year Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities” and does not mention any school break dates.
There are also no reports of schools being closed from October 25 to November 2.
The page also falsely reported that a “beer house and bar” was closing to prevent the “worsening case” of HIV. Similar to the earlier claim about school closures, there are no legitimate reports of any beer house or bar closing due to HIV concerns.
The page also claimed that a list of places to be hit by an earthquake has been “released.” But earthquakes cannot be predicted and there are no instruments capable of doing so.
Experts can only calculate the probability of a significant earthquake occurring in a specific area over a given period, not predict the exact events.
Meanwhile, AI or artificial intelligence can generate content such as text, images and audio and create videos that appear to be “news reports.” However, these AI-generated videos may contain information that is false or misleading.
