Filipino moviegoers have two highly anticipated international films to look forward to this year, after CreaZion Studios announced the local release of “Mother Mary” and “Backrooms.”

Anne Hathaway’s pop psychological thriller “Mother Mary” will hit Philippine cinemas on April 22, 2026.

The actress, known for “Interstellar” and “The Devil Wears Prada”, stars as the titular global pop icon in the A24-produced film.

The film follows “Mother Mary” as she reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm, played by Michaela Coel (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), on the eve of her comeback performance. The synopsis asks a haunting question: “How much of your soul are you willing to lose for fame and vanity?”

Written and directed by David Lowery (“The Green Knight,” “A Ghost Story”), the movie explores the musical and emotional journey of former friends reconnecting while confronting long-buried wounds.

The soundtrack features original music by Charli XCX, Jack Antonoff and FKA Twigs, who also appears in the film. Hathaway performs the single “Burial,” while Twigs’ “My Mouth is Lonely For You” rounds out part of the soundtrack. The full digital soundtrack will be released in April.

The cast also includes Hunter Schafer (“Euphoria,” “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”), Kaia Gerber (“Babylon, “Shell”), and FKA Twigs.

“Whether you are a fan of elevated genres or you simply want to have a good time watching a movie, CreaZion Studios got you covered with an exciting lineup of film offerings that can be enjoyed on the best screen and great surround sound possible, in cinemas near you,” RJ San Agustin, president and CEO of CreaZion Studios, said.

“By bringing in the most disruptive and talked-about films to the country and Southeast Asian region, CreaZion Studios hopes to bridge human stories and experiences to this side of the world,” he added.

Meanwhile, the sci-fi horror “Backrooms” will open in the Philippines on June 3, 2026. Based on the viral web series, the film is directed by Kane Parsons, a 20-year-old YouTuber whose original series about secret backrooms amassed nearly 100 million views.

Produced by A24 alongside Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster and 21 Laps, the film stars Academy Award nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”) and Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value,” “The Worst Person in the World”), with supporting performances by Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, Avan Jogia, Chelah Horsdal and Toby Hargrave.

In the teaser, a strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom, plunging viewers into a shifting world of space and time.

The film’s first poster features the franchise’s signature yellow wallpaper.

“Nothing compares to the experience of watching a film on the big screen, particularly works distinguished by excellence in writing, performance, cinematography, and overall execution,” San Agustin said.

“’Backrooms’ marks the beginning of CreaZion Studios’ slate of international titles for exclusive distribution in the Philippines and across Southeast Asia, and we look forward to unveiling more of our forthcoming releases under our banner, #KwentoMoTo,” he added.

Both films are part of CreaZion Studios’ #KwentoMoTo mission, which aims to bring “human stories and human experiences” to Filipino and Southeast Asian audiences.

The company previously distributed Park Chan Wook’s “No Other Choice,” A24’s fantasy adventure “The Legend of Ochi” and the award-winning body horror film “The Substance.”
