Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants are already joining the “Big Guy” dance craze ahead of the release of “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” set to open in cinemas tomorrow, January 14.

Rapper and songwriter Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston recorded the track “Big Guy” for the film, which has inspired social media users of all ages to post videos of themselves dancing along.

“I grew up watching SpongeBob. I’m a huge fan,” Ice Spice said in a featurette for the movie.

The song reflects SpongeBob’s confident new persona in the movie.

“This song is called ‘Big Guy… “It’s just supposed to embody confidence and this new attitude [SpongeBob] has facing the world,” Ice Spice said.

In the upcoming film, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman, a ghostly pirate, on a deep-sea adventure filled with laughs and unexpected challenges.

Fans can join the excitement online, as SpongeBob and Patrick demonstrate the dance in a series of videos shared on social media.

Meanwhile, Ice Spice, a longtime SpongeBob fan, is also voicing a character in the movie.

“I manifested this,” she said.

“The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” directed by Derek Drymon with a screenplay by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, also features the voices of old SpongeBob favorites including Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass and Bill Fagerbakke, with new additions Ice Spice, Regina Hall and Mark Hamill.

The animated movie blends the classic humor of the Bikini Bottom with new adventures and a new viral dance. It opens in Philippine cinemas January 14.

The movie is presented by Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies in association with Domain Entertainment and MRC.
