Known as the “Taj Mahal of Negros,” The Ruins in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, is one of the must-see attractions in the region.

Interaksyon visited the ancestral house to witness its beauty, which has earned it recognition as one of the twelve most fascinating ruins in the world and one of the top landmarks globally.

Much like the Taj Mahal in India, The Ruins is admired not only for its stunning architecture but also for the enduring love story it represents, offering visitors a glimpse into both history and romance.

Built in the 1920s by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson, the mansion served as a tribute to his late wife, Maria Braga, who died during childbirth.

The mansion was set on fire during World War II to prevent it from being used by Japanese forces, but its strong walls survived. Today, the remains of the burnt structure stand as a symbol of enduring love and a timeless story.

The Ruins is located near Bacolod-Silay International Airport and is close to other popular attractions, including heritage houses, museums, and century-old churches throughout the province.

It is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., except on days reserved for special events.

Entrance fees are as follows: P150 for adults, P100 for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), P80 for students and free for children below 8 years old.
