As BTS marks another milestone year, Filipino fans will soon get a taste of South Korea in cookie form.
Snack giant Oreo has teamed up with global pop phenomenon BTS for what the company calls its first-ever global snacking partnership with the group — launching a limited-edition cookie inspired by one of Korea’s most beloved street food treats, hotteok.
Set to roll out in more than 80 markets, including the Philippines, the new Oreo & BTS cookie features a hotteok-inspired brown sugar pancake-flavored creme sandwiched between the brand’s first-ever purple wafers, a nod to BTS and its fandom, ARMY.
“For Oreo to be the first snacking brand we’ve collaborated with globally is a huge honor. We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now Oreo is helping us share a taste of home with the world,” BTS said in a statement.
“We’re just so proud to add our own chapter to Oreo’s amazing story.”
The collaboration leans heavily into BTS’ Korean roots, with packaging inspired by the country’s bustling street markets where hotteok, a warm pancake filled with brown sugar, is commonly sold.
According to the release, the group members also shared childhood memories of eating both hotteok and Oreo cookies, making the flavor “a deeply meaningful collaboration.”
Beyond the flavor itself, BTS also helped design the cookies. The limited-edition packs will contain 13 unique embossments created by the group to commemorate BTS’ 13th anniversary.
Designs include member names, the BTS light stick, and a hidden message spread across three cookies for fans to collect and decode.
The campaign also invites fans to participate in what Oreo describes as the “world’s largest love letter” to BTS. Through QR codes found on the cookie packs or via the campaign website, fans can send digital letters to the group, with selected entries potentially featured globally and eligible for exclusive prizes.
“We are always looking for exciting and meaningful ways to connect with our consumers, and the collaboration between Oreo and BTS brings that vision to life in a truly special way,” Aleli Arcilla, managing director of Mondelez International Philippines, said.
“This joyful moment is a shared experience that celebrates creativity, culture, and the deep bond between BTS and their fans. We’re excited to give Filipino fans a chance to be part of this global movement and create their own moments of play through Oreo,” she added.
In the Philippines, the limited-edition cookies will go on presale beginning June 2 through the Mondelez PH Shopee page, before arriving in stores nationwide on June 8 for a limited run.
Filipino ARMYs can also look forward to a public launch celebration on June 14 at Market! Market! in Taguig City, timed with BTS anniversary festivities. Pre-registration for the fan event begins June 9.
