Drag queen Marina Summers appealed to the public to refrain from hurling hate and harassing fellow drag queen, Angel Galang, after the latter made remarks about her hosting of Miss Universe Philippines 2026.

On Wednesday, May 6, Marina called out those sharing harsh comments against Angel, who previously posted her sentiments about the former’s hosting of the coronation night.

Marina was the first trans woman to host the national beauty pageant, which took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 2.

Angel previously posted the following on her social media accounts during the finals night:

“Chaka host MUPH (faceslapping emoji)”

“Bagota ang sena kaloka (face pleading emoji)”

Her comments reached some Filipinos who were displeased by what they viewed as an unsupportive stance toward her fellow drag artist.

Marina acknowledged this and appealed to them to “stop” the hate.

“Hosting Miss Universe Philippines 2026 has been one of the greatest milestones of my career and my life. And while I understand that there will be different opinions and some resistance to it, I did not expect the vile [and] alarming amount of transphobia, hate and even death threats thrown at me,” she wrote.

“Moreso, the hate and harassment being thrown [at] my sister, Angel. This is not what I stand for. This NEEDS TO STOP.

“While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. It just sets us back and everything we’ve worked so hard for just loses its meaning,” she continued.

Marina said that while “everyone is entitled to their opinions,” they are not entitled to “disrespect.”

“While I may not be able to change everyone’s opinion, I would like to call on everyone who believes in me. I am truly grateful for all the outpour of love and support. I ask that you only spread love, grace and kindness to the people around you,” she said.

Marina also shared that she and Angel “were able to resolve things privately.”

“Let’s give her space and understanding. Maraming salamat sa pag-unawa,” she concluded.

Amid the backlash, Angel apologized for her comments about Marina’s pageant hosting on Sunday, May 3, saying she had “overexpressed” herself.

HARD loka!! Pero sorry, I’m really, really sorry hard, especially to my sister, Marina. Na-over express ako at I know na MALI TALAGA AKO,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

“I want to take accountability and responsibility dito, mga nak. Angel added.

She also acknowledged comments threatening her as a person in another post.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Bea Millan-Windorski said Marina was “nothing but professional” while hosting the national pageant.

The beauty queen added that the “Drag Race Philippines Season 1” and “Drag Race UK vs the World Season 2” queen “really stuck to the script” of what Miss Universe Philippines expected of her.

“This was such a history-defining moment because Miss Universe Philippines is not only a pageant, it’s a cultural institution here in the Philippines, and the fact that a trans woman was able to host with such beauty and grace is a celebration for all of our trans brothers and sisters, especially for me as a proud younger sister of a trans older brother,” Bea added.

Bea, who won the national pageant, will represent the Philippines at the upcoming 75th edition of Miss Universe, where reigning titleholder Fatima Bosch of Mexico will crown her successor.
