What was supposed to be a simple farewell segment at the end of a news broadcast turned into a hilarious blooper when actress Sofia Andres mistakenly introduced herself as news anchor Jeff Canoy.
The showbiz personality appeared as a celebrity guest reporter at ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol Express” on Monday, March 16, to promote her new series, “The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan.”
“TV Patrol Express” is a pre-show spinoff of “TV Patrol,” offering a roundup of headlines and features before the main show.
Toward the end of the broadcast, Jeff prompted Sofia to deliver her closing spiel as they wrapped up the show.
Earlier, however, the actress had already committed a blooper by pointing in the wrong direction at the QR code flashed on the screen.
Jeff noticed this and simply smiled as he continued delivering his spiel.
“Ako po…” he said after finishing his spiel, gesturing to Sofia to cue her to speak.
“Ako po si Jeff Canoy?” the actress said with a questioning tone after being put on the spot.
“Sofia Andres!” the reporter corrected her.
“At ako po so Sofia Andres!” Jeff told viewers with amusement, as the actress held on to him and hid her face in embarrassment.
The moment caught the attention of some Filipinos, who shared their amusement on social media.
“This is Jeff Canoy now,” an online user joked on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo of Sofia.

It also made its way to Reddit, where some online users found the moment “relatable.”
“Tawang-tawa ako,” a Redditor commented with laughing emojis. “Pinapanood ko ulit: Tawang-tawa pa din ako, haha. Na-relate much sa lutang moment.”

“Sorry, ilang beses ko na ‘to nakita pero tawang-tawa pa din ako. Parang ‘yung Karen Davila at Karen de Guzman,” a different Redditor wrote, referring to a similar incident in which broadcast journalist Karen Davila accidentally blurted her own name instead of that of her namesake.
Last month, Davila amused viewers when she mistakenly said her own name instead of reporter Karen de Guzman, whom she was supposed to introduce as a “patroller.”
