‘Orange alert’: What Conan O’Brien has been up to in Manila beyond filming for travel show

American comedian and television host Conan O’Brien found his “feline doppelganger” in Manila while visiting the country for his global travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go.”

On Tuesday, October 14, the TV personality posted a picture of himself posing behind a white street cat with orange spots.

He was captured in a squatting position, striking an almost identical expression to the feline

“Two Manila cats chilling,” Conan wrote on Instagram, geotagging it in Manila, Philippines.

He also shared the post on X (formerly Twitter), where some users reacted to it.

“Tell me how Conan goes to the Philippines and finds his exact feline doppelganger,” an X user commented.

“Why is Conan more orange than…?” another wrote with laughing-with-tears emojis.

“Both are orange,” a different X user said.

“Orange alert!! Hahahahaha. [Please] don’t forget to use sunscreen. Try San Miguel and eat Balut. Love you soooooo much!!” another commented, referring to the famous local beer and a Filipino exotic delicacy, respectively.

Conan also shared that he met a Filipino fan who had his childhood picture as her mobile phone wallpaper.

“Met a fan who has my childhood photo as her lock screen. In the Philippines, it comes with your phone,” he wrote, sharing a picture with the fan.

According to DataReportal’s Digital 2024: Global Overview Report, the Philippines ranks as the third most phone-addicted country in the world, with Filipinos spending 31.45% of their day on their devices.

Meanwhile, the fan who claimed to have taken the picture with Conan also reacted.

“Hey, that’s me!!! It was so nice to meet you, @teamcoco.  I don’t know how to top this, it’s all gonna be downhill from here,” she commented with emojis.

Conan also shared a picture of himself lying down in sweets with the caption: “Visited my fan Charles’ candy factory and lost my f-ing mind.”

In a November 2024 episode of “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” the comedian talked to Charles, a mechanical engineer working in an “unpopular candy factory” in Manila.

Filipino fans had previously given him a warm virtual welcome, with some suggesting he try local delicacies like balut and take on challenges such as performing the “Maglalatik” dance.

Conan is one of America’s famous late-night TV hosts, with a career spanning 25 years.

He hosted “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” on NBC from 1993 to 2009, had a brief stint on “The Tonight Show” from 2009 to 2010, and then the TBS talk show “Conan” from 2010 until 2021.

Conan is also set to host the prestigious 2026 Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
