Showbiz news anchor Jervi Wrightson questioned the claim that she rebranded her well-known persona “KaladKaren” after she referred to herself as “Mrs. Wrightson” in a social media post.

On Tuesday, September 9, the “Frontline Pilipinas” anchor responded to an X (formerly Twitter) user who commented on her post celebrating her wedding anniversary.

“One year as Mr. [and] Mrs. Wrightson and thirteen years of love and life together! Our wedding in the clouds still feels like a dream,” Jervi wrote.

“Cheers to deep and enduring love! Because, in the end, love always wins,” she added.

Jervi tied the knot with her British partner, Luke Wrightson, in September 2024 in the United Kingdom, after 12 years of being together.

Their wedding was celebrated online and hailed as an inspiration for the LGBTQ+ community in the Philippines, as Jervi is a transwoman.

However, a recent post from Jervi, where she referred to herself as “Mrs. Wrightson” while celebrating their wedding anniversary, caught the attention of an online user who assumed she was “rebranding” and moving away from her popular persona, KaladKaren.

“Pangit ng rebranding mo, te. Stick ka [na lang] as KaladKaren,” an X user commented.

Jervi noticed and responded, “Rebranding where? Wedding anniversary post ‘yan! Wag kang mamarunong at mas pangit ka, for sure.”

Rebranding is defined as the process of changing or updating a product or service’s brand or branding. It can also mean publicly presenting or describing someone or something in a new or different way.

Jervi is widely known by her screen persona “KaladKaren,” which stemmed from her viral spot-on impersonation of veteran broadcast journalist Karen Davila.

She has since made waves as a news anchor, “Drag Race Philippines” judge, and the first transwoman to have won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2023 Summer Metro Manila Film Festival for her role in “Here Comes the Groom.”

Jervi still refers to herself as “KaladKaren” in her social media accounts.

In a 2023 interview, she said that as a “performer and impersonator,” the character of “KaladKaren” will “always” be with her.
