Content creator Camille Co said that she will not change her surname despite being mistaken as part of a family whose patriarch owns a construction firm tagged in the flood control project probe.
The fashion and lifestyle blogger on Wednesday, September 3, took to Instagram Stories to respond to suggestions that she adopt her husband’s last name to avoid being associated with the viral Cos.
Camille has been mistaken for a member of the family of singer-vlogger Claudine Co, who has drawn criticisms for her penchant for designer outfits, bags and shoes and posting their price breakdowns online.
Claudine is the daughter of Christopher Co, co-founder of the Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation, which was among the contractors that bagged the most number of flood control projects.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. previously stated that such projects had lacked key details, such as failing to specify the type of structures to be built.
The Congress has begun investigating the flood control projects as the country experiences flooding during the current rainy season.
Meanwhile, Camille previously clarified that she was not in any way related to Claudine or the Cos of the Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corp.
She also stated she was not related to the Cos of the Puregold supermarket chain, which was co-founded by Lucio and Susan Co.

On Wednesday, Camille responded to online users who urged her to change her last name. She is married to Finnish entrepreneur Joni Koro.
“To those telling me to change my last name na lang to my husband’s. I know you mean well, but why? Why will I allow these people to take away my name that I worked so hard to build and protect? I refuse to let them take my name from me,” the blogger said.
“But thank you for reaching out. Thank you to all my friends, and even strangers, for sending me heartwarming messages of support and, most of all, helping me clear my name on these posts. You don’t have to, but you do. So thank you,” Camille added.

Camille identifies as “Camille Co” online and across her platforms on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Threads and YouTube, although she uses “Camille Co-Koro” as her name on Instagram and Threads.
She is a Filipino-Chinese content creator who gained prominence as a fashion and lifestyle blogger in the early 2010s.
Camille became one of the most recognizable names in the Filipino blogging community before transitioning to digital content creation.
