South Korean superstar Hyun Bin fulfilled a long-time wish when he visited the Philippines for a special meet-and-greet with his Filipino fans on Friday, August 8.

Known globally for his role in the hit drama “Crash Landing on You,” where he captivated audiences as the charming and swoon-worthy Captain Ri, Hyun Bin expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and vibrant energy he experienced in the country.

“Philippines has always been on my list to visit and I did not have so much time yet to go around and experience the Philippines. But you know, the way they have welcomed me here in the Philippines is really heartwarming and it’s more amazing than I expected,” Hyun Bin said during a press conference held at Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque City.

“And also one thing that I am really surprised about is the warm hospitality of how they’ve welcomed me in the Philippines and also the bright energy that I have witnessed,” he added.

Meeting his Filipino supporters in person was also a special and exciting moment for the award-winning actor.

“The fans here in the Philippines who have been loving me so much and have been supporting me so much [to be] finally meeting them, I’m very, very excited and looking forward to it and looking forward to what memories we can have together,” he said.

At the press conference, Hyun Bin thanked his Filipino fans for their “unconditional and unchanging love and support,” many of whom have followed his career since the early 2000s.

“You know, the unconditional and unchanging love and support that I received from the Filipino fans, am really, really grateful and honored to have this kind of support,” he said.

“With that love, I would like to return it back to you to the Filipino fans with more projects and of course, a better actor as well. So thank you, thank you so much for all your love and support,” he added.

Hyun Bin had initially planned to visit the Philippines five years ago but the trip was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His popularity in the Philippines and globally soared after “Crash Landing on You” became a pandemic-era favorite, with fans lauding his on-screen chemistry with co-star and now-wife Son Ye-jin.

Besides “Crash Landing on You,” fondly known as “CLOY,” Hyun Bin has also starred in notable projects such as “My Lovely Sam Soon” (2005), “Secret Garden” (2010–2011), “Hyde, Jekyll, Me” (2015) and “Memories of the Alhambra” (2018–2019).

He is set to star in the upcoming political drama “Made in Korea,” scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in the second half of 2025.

This highly anticipated series marks his return to television after several successful projects, fueling excitement among fans.
