MANILA, Philippines — Another former official of the Arroyo administration has secured a post from the Duterte administration.

Agnes Devanadera, the solicitor-general, who also became the acting chief of the Department of Justice during the presidency of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has been appointed as chairperson of the Energy Regulatory Commission.

In a November 22, 2017 letter from the Office of the President, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea informed Devanadera that her appointment letter had been signed by President Rodrigo Duterte for a term that would last until July 10, 2022.

Devanadera replaced Jose Vicente Salazar, who was ordered dismissed last month after Malacañang found him “guilty of two counts of simple misconduct and one count of grave misconduct.

Salazar was earlier linked to the death of ERC Director Francisco Villa Jr. The latter accused the former ERC chief of corruption before he committed suicide.

Last month, Duterte also appointed former Arroyo official Francisco T. Duque III as chief of the Department of Health.

Duque became the Arroyo administration’s DOH secretary from June 2005 to January 2010, before he became chair of the Philippine Civil Service Commission from 2010 to 2015.
