Filipinos urged the public to refrain from skipping the advertisements in Ivana Alawi‘s latest video as its proceeds will be given to the family of late vlogger Lloyd Cafe Cadena, considered one of the pioneer Filipino content creators.

Cadena in one of his final vlogs challenged the actress-vlogger to wash a bus with him to see who can can do it faster, in reference to Alawi’s famous car wash vlogs.

They were never able to do it in person since Cadena passed away on September 4 after suffering from a cardiac arrest in his sleep. He was also infected with the coronavirus.

Alawi on Sunday uploaded her “bus wash challenge” in honor of the late vlogger and appealed for her 8.68 million subscribers to refrain from skipping the ads inserted in the video since its earnings will be given to Cadena’s family.

“Hinamon ako ni Kween Lloyd Cafe Cadena sa kanyang last vlog na inupload niya sa kaniyang channel. Ang request niya, mag-carwash kami ng bus together,” Alawi said on her Facebook page.

“Nakakalungkot man at hindi natin magagawa ng magkasama ito at wala ka dito sa tabi ko, itutuloy ko ang hamon mo dahil alam ko nanonood ka diyan sa heaven at masisiyahan ka dito. Para kay Lloyd itong video at lahat ng kikitain nitong video ay ibibigay natin sa kanyang naiwang pamilya para makatulong kahit sa maliit na paraan na alam ko,” she added.

Alawi’s video has since earned more than 3.5 million views. It has also gained over 617,000 likes.

Fans of both vloggers joined in the appeal to watch the “bus wash challenge” video without clicking the “skip ads” option so that it could earn advertising revenues. People are also encouraged to temporarily disable their ad blockers while watching the video.

“I encourage you all to please watch Ivana Alawi’s latest vlog. ‘Yung kikitain na pera nung vlog is for Lloyd Cadena’s family. Please do watch and please do not skip ads,” wrote a Twitter user.

“Please watch Ivana Alawi’s ‘Bus wash para kay Lloyd Cadena’ Watch the whole video WITHOUT SKIPPING THE ADS. All proceeds will go to Lloyd Cadena’s family. Huling hamon ni Lloyd kay Ivana. Challenge accepted!!!” another online user said.

“Guys kindly watch Ivana Alawi’s latest vlog and please don’t skip the ads!!! All the money will go to Lloyd Cadena’s family. Let us help them in our own small little ways,” appealed another Filipino with a beating heart emoji.

The same sentiments were echoed in the comments section of Alawi’s vlog, where YouTube users likewise urged the public to watch the ads.

Vloggers usually make money from the video-sharing platform through advertising revenues from display, overlay or video ads.

An inbound marketing specialist said that YouTube creators are paid based on the “number of ad views” and “the number of ad clicks.”

Cadena, also known as “Kween LC,” was considered one of the pioneer Filipino content creators in the video-sharing platform who entered the vlogging scene in 2011.

He was famous for his humorous skits and signature bright pink background in his videos, as well as catchphrases such as “Darna” and “Gusto mo ‘yun? Gusto ko ‘yun!”
