As if the summer weather isn’t hot enough, actress Phoebe Walker is further heating up not just one but two men’s magazines this month.
The 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Supporting Actress and “The Amazing Race Philippines” season 2 co-winner is on the cover of this month’s issue of FHM Philippines.
In John Paul Aguilera’s cover story that accompanied the Gothic-themed photos by Artu Nepomuceno, Phoebe talked about the challenges she faced before she got to this point in her career. She also seems to be finally embracing the sexy image that people have identified her with after seeing her nude scenes in Cesar Hernando’s “Gayuma” and Erik Matti’s “Seklusyon” (the director’s cut).
“I didn’t want to do full nudity. When I did it with ‘Gayuma’ my mom had high blood pressure after seeing it so I had to take her to the hospital…For sure, I don’t want to be typecast. I want to evolve and I want people to get to know me as Phoebe Walker, the actress, and not just the girl who bared it all in certain movies.” she told InterAksyon last December.
These days, Phoebe has a slightly different perspective on the matter.
“When I was stuck with my wholesome image, I was getting jobs, but not the kind of jobs that would give me longevity in acting…Who would not want to be known as someone sexy? For a woman, of course, gusto kong magkaroon ng sex appeal to men, because I know they’re my audience. That’s how I look at it,” she said in her FHM interview.
And yes, even her mom now approves. “I think she’s looking back at the things that I’ve done, like ‘Gayuma,’ and she knows how hard I’ve worked for where I am now.”
Also this month, Phoebe did another sexy photo shoot as part of Esquire Philippines’ “Women We Love” feature. In photos taken by Shaira Luna, Phoebe looks very much comfortable not only in her own skin but also in what looks like her mostly “pambahay” outfits.
Both FHM and Esquire are currently available in newsstands nationwide.
