Coco Martin‘s newest teleserye project drew attention online after viewers pointed out scenes they suspected may have involved the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Sigabo,” the action-romance drama that marks the latest collaboration between the actor and his real-life partner, Julia Montes, sparked discussions online over viewers’ observations about the possible use of AI in some scenes.

An online user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a clip from the series on Wednesday, July 8, featuring a wedding scene between two characters.

The clip also showed fireworks lighting up the city to mark the occasion.

“They’re not stopping with the AI. Cringe on the highest level,” the X user commented with a vomiting emoji.

The post has so far garnered two million views, 6,800 likes, 1,500 reposts and over 180 replies, with several X users agreeing that the scene appeared to have use “AI.”

“Kadiri. Gamit malala ng AI ta’s ‘di man lang nagha-hire ng legit na artist mismo? Andaming artists sa Pinas, mygod naman,” writer Noelle Capili-Ruiz commented.

“Ang lala, sobrang halatang-halatang AI,” another wrote.

“Ang tamad ni Coco Martin and his team,” a different Pinoy commented.

“WTF was that @ABSCBN????? Kilala kayo sa mga dikalibreng gawa ta’s gagamit lang ng AI??????” another asked.

Another Pinoy claimed that a different ABS-CBN series, “Blood and Duty,” also allegedly used AI in the execution of an action scene.

The buzz surrounding “Sigabo’s” alleged use of AI was also noted by a showbiz-oriented account.

“Sigabo’s” official poster had also previously drawn claims that it incorporated AI.

Others, however, had a more accepting stance, claiming that it was “better” than using “ugly CGI.”

CGI refers to Computer-Generated Imagery, a specific application of computer graphics used to create or enhance images in art, printed media, simulators, videos and video games.

“No to AI, pero okay lang sa inyo bulok na CGI? Don’t embrace too hard being in a third-world country. Move forward!” an X user wrote.

CGI is a production pipeline that combines modeling, materials, lighting, rendering and post-production into one controlled visual workflow. It involves 3D modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering software.

In contrast, AI image generation relies on machine learning models that create visuals from prompts rather than manually constructed 3D scenes.

“Sigabo,” a series produced by Coco’s CCM Film Productions and Dreamscape Entertainment, follows the story of Gabo, a devoted son and ex-convict who is granted parole after spending eight years in prison.

His long-awaited freedom is put at risk when he is forced into a covert government program that recruits convicts to carry out dangerous and high-stakes missions.
