Motorists traversing Bonny Serrano Avenue were warned of flying golf balls after an individual shared that his car had been hit by one.

Facebook user Christian Olaguer shared on Saturday, June 20, that a golf ball had left a dent in his vehicle while he was on his way to his office in Ortigas.

He was passing along Bonny Serrano Avenue, particularly near the Camp Aguinaldo area, when he heard a “loud bang” on his vehicle.

“I was just lucky to have found the golf ball rolling on the road right after it hit my vehicle, so I was able to pull over and get it. I’m not sure if it hit another car first,” Christian wrote on Facebook.

He, however, added that his main concern was not his vehicle being hit but the risk of golf ball flying along the avenue, which he described as a “busy street.”

“What if someone was directly hit? Bonny Serrano is a busy street. Imagine if that hard golf ball hits a pedestrian, a commuter, or a motorcycle rider directly in the head?” Olaguer wrote.

“Sobrang delikado, it can cause severe injuries! Baka meron na tinamaan, pero they don’t care??? Or those who have been hit no longer complain since it is hard to prove??? O baka naman natatakot silang mag-complain dahil ‘CAMP AGUINALDO’ (gobyerno or militar)?? Tsk,” he added.

Camp Aguinaldo is the general headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, located along EDSA in Quezon City.

Olaguer also said that a golf course “shouldn’t really exist” in the area, as “it is directly adjacent to a main thoroughfare.”

“The fence and its nets are the actual boundary separating the course from the busy street. Even if the nets are high, accidents still happen because there is zero safety buffer zone. It just shouldn’t be there,” he said.

Olaguer also said that, according to local shops and nearby residents, it was not the first time the incident had occurred.

“Camp Aguinaldo Golf Course management needs to address this immediately before a real tragedy happens!” he concluded.

Olaguer said he has been passing by the area “for more than two decades already.”

“To be honest, pabalik-balik sa isip ko through the years: ‘May lumalagpas kaya na bola diyan? Haha.’ Today, I finally got my answer, and hindi siya nakakatuwa,” he added.

Meanwhile, some Facebook users commented that Olaguer could file an insurance claim by going to the golf course.

“Punta ka golf course, claim ka damages. May insurance ‘yan,” a Facebook user wrote.

“You can claim damages. Caddies record the ball used and the time each ball flies out of the area,” another commented.

“May insurance ‘yan, punta ka sa golf club, sabihin mo tinamaan ka. Rine-record ng caddie mga bola na lumalabas so mave-verify nila,” a different Pinoy said.

There is an 18-hole golf course inside Camp Aguinaldo which has tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkers and water hazards.
