A three‑year‑old rescued indoor cat named Kevin has become an unexpected viral star after a video captured him opening his mouth to meow — only for a rough “cuckoo” sound to come out instead.
The clip was filmed just after Kevin returned home from the veterinary clinic, where he had been neutered and received his annual vaccine. His owner said the normally silent cat became unusually vocal, producing a series of strange, chicken‑like sounds as he tried to communicate.
Despite commenters’ urging a vet check, Kevin had just been seen by one. His owner explained that he was groggy, hungry, and confused after being placed on a strict five‑hour no‑food rule following the procedure. Unable to understand why he wasn’t being fed, he sat and “complained the only way he knew how”.
The video, posted on Instagram by pitongpusa, has now been viewed more than 2.1 million times. It has garnered 12,300 likes and 67,000 reactions.
