Videos of an escalator mishap that occurred while actress and content creator Ivana Alawi was singing during a mall show promoting “Shake Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins” went viral on social media.
In one of the videos, the showbiz personality was heard singing Cup of Joe‘s hit song “Multo” when the camera shifted to show an escalator near the stage.
Several people were seen stumbling on the escalator, which was moving upward.
The escalator later stopped operating.
“Habang kumakanta si Ivana Alawi, my nangyayari sa escalator ng mall!” photographer and content creator Wilfredo Fred wrote in a Facebook Reel on Sunday, December 21.
The post has garnered 29,300 likes, 8,600 shares and over 1,000 comments, with some users expressing concern over the incident.
“Sana lesson na ‘to sa mga mall or event na kapag ganyang karaming tao is mas better na ini-off na lang sana ang mga excalators kasi high-risk tlaga ‘yan, lalo na karamihan satin e hindi nag-iisip agad ng mga possible injury or kahihinatnan,” a Facebook user wrote.
The video also spread to other platforms like Reddit, where some users attempted to explain what happened.
“Parang may natumba sa taas. Eh magkadikit sila halos lahat, kaya parang domino effect, natamaan at nawalan ng balanse ‘yung nasa baba, lalo na ‘yung isa, may dala pang bata. Ewan, parang ganito, hirap din sila makatayo [nang] maayos kasi gumagalaw ‘yung escalator,” a Reddit user wrote.
On Sunday, some cast members of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins” visited Fisher Mall Malabon for a mall tour and ticket-selling event.
Ivana was joined by fellow actors Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra.
The mall’s management has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.
