Bayambang, Pangasinan Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao addressed recent comments about her weight gain and skin tone.
On Tuesday, November 25, the mayor took to Facebook to respond to remarks about her appearance, telling critics to “fix” their own lives before passing judgment on hers.
“Haha, I GAINED weight because I just gave birth [five] months ago, that’s what happened. Because a lot of comments are saying, what happened? I just gave birth,” Quiambao wrote.
“Next, why is my face so white? I don’t know, I don’t wear makeup, I wear sunblock and my skincare,” the former actress added.
“Hahaha, these are some comments I get that make me LOL [laugh out loud] so hard. So to those asking anyare, bakit ganyan? Pinabayaan ko sarili ko, no I’m not… I’m trying my best to lose postpartum weight, but I am not rushing it because so many things happened to me, and I choose to heal first before anything,” the mayor said with a smiling emoticon.
She also said she had a “stye,” or a red bump on the edge of one’s eyelid.
“Sobrang baduy na wala na bang bago? People can really be cruel and when something happens to the people they bully, they say, ‘sorry,’ be kind, blah blah blah, ha, hypocritical of you,” Quiambao continued.
“But anyway, most of those commenting have hidden accounts or ghost accounts, haha. I have no idea where these people get their energy to be able to waste time typing comments as if they are perfect, haha. Fix your life first before you judge others. Inggiterang frogs,” she said.
In the comments, a Facebook user shared additional details about the personal events in the mayor’s life.
“She had [two] miscarriages, [one] stillborn child. Her mother died, countless injections, way too much trip to the hospital because of her very dangerous pregnancy, had an appendectomy while pregnant, got food poisoning while pregnant! Give this mom a break,” a Facebook user wrote.
Quiambao acknowledged the comment by responding directly.
“Thank you, this is appreciated,” she replied.
The mayor also thanked those who defended her and offered support amid criticism of her appearance.
“Thank you all! Your comments are inspiring me and I’m sure other moms and women to be strong and confident! God bless us all. Be kind, be brave!!!!” she wrote in the comments.
Quiambao is a former actress who first gained public attention as a housemate in the inaugural teen edition of “Pinoy Big Brother,” where she was a batchmate of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.
She later appeared in television shows and movies such as “Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko,” “My Girl,” “Your Song: My Only Hope,” “Valiente,” “Shake Rattle and Roll X” and “Aswang.”
Quiambao left showbiz in 2015 and entered public service after marrying former Bayambang, Pangasinan Mayor Cezar Quiambao.
