Solo parents can access health and insurance protection plans, benefits, and income opportunities through a new program by a life insurance company.
Aileen Dionisio, head of sustainability, said the MaPanatag initiative of Allianz PNB Life Inc. is designed to help solo parents address their specific needs.
The initiative includes eAZy Health, HerBox and an opportunity to earn income.
The eAZy Health benefit provides single parents with health and life insurance coverage for themselves and their families.
“It’s heavy on health because it provides them with health protection for medical illnesses. There [are] also accidents and disablement and stuff like that,” Dionisio said.
Meanwhile, HerBox is a curated set of benefits for single parents, including wellness-related support.
“There are health and wellness benefits that we included in Herbox that’s really meant to be a support,” Dionisio said.
“So this is something they will receive yearly. So 2,000 in the first year and then 1,000 in years two to five,” she added.
Solo parents can also access discounts and benefits from partner clinics, pharmacies, wellness services, and providers of parent-and-baby essentials.
“This health and wellness benefit they can use for checkups, even buying milk or diapers, small things like that,” she said.
Solo parents can also participate in the contribution program, earning additional income to support their families.
“This is something that will help them become more confident with their finances,” the head of sustainability said.
Although the initiative’s name was inspired by solo mothers, Dionisio clarified that anyone who qualifies as a single parent under the Solo Parent Act is eligible for the benefits.
She added that individuals with a partner working overseas are excluded.
Allianz PNB Life Inc. was established in 2016 as a joint venture between the German-based Allianz Group and the Philippine National Bank.
