Volunteers from the local community joined forces last November 6 for a coastal clean-up along the shores of Talim Island, working to remove debris and prevent pollution from spoiling the waters of Laguna de Bay.
The initiative, held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., brought together residents and company employees to turn environmental concern into collective action.
Registration and assembly took place along the Coastal Road near the Municipal Annex, with organizers ensuring that the activities were carefully planned for maximum impact while observing safety protocols.
The clean-up was spearheaded by Vena Energy, a leading sustainable energy company with a growing presence in the Philippines, and conducted in partnership with the Barangay Council of Gulod.
“Our commitment to sustainable energy is intrinsically linked to the well-being of the communities and environments we operate in,” a Vena Energy representative said.
“This coastal clean-up at Talim Island is a tangible reflection of our dedication. It is about working side-by-side with local partners like the Barangay Council of Gulod to ensure a cleaner, healthier future.”
The clean-up is the third in a series of six planned initiatives in Rizal, which will continue in barangays such as Navotas, Subay and Boor in the coming weeks. The event concluded with a short fellowship among participants, emphasizing the partnerships and shared commitment to environmental stewardship fostered through the day’s efforts.
By combining hands-on environmental work with engagement in local communities, the clean-up at Talim Island underscores the broader principle that sustainability extends beyond corporate operations, fostering tangible benefits for both people and nature.
