Videos and photos taken by the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima in Cebu Province on the evening of the quake shows the partially collapsed church surrounded by rubble. The church, built in 1886 and declared the first archdiocesan shrine in the Philippines dedicated to St. Rose of Lima in 2022, is 139 years old.
The archdiocese also reported that as of 6:53 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, its Retablo Image of Santa Rosa de Lima was left unscathed or undamaged.
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) earlier released guidance to secure and preserve movable heritage objects that may have been damaged during the earthquake.
