In a shocking moment, an oven exploded in a shopkeeper’s face as he cooked pastries.
CCTV footage shows Jake De Castro adjusting the gas valve to light the appliance at a bakeshop in Manila.
Gas started leaking as the man twisted the regulator to turn on the gas cooker, unaware of the danger.
Moments later, he folded a piece of paper and lit it. When he opened the lid, the flame quickly spread through the oven on July 8.
The explosion erupted in front of the worker, causing him to fall and quickly run away.
“I was baking a batch of bread rolls when we ran out of gas, so we ordered a cylinder, and I connected it to the oven. But when I was about to light it, it exploded because I forgot to turn off the burner,” De Castro said.
The baker did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
