A new Dingdong merch?
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes shared his amusement after a youth councilor in Majayjay, Laguna asked him to sign a pack of snack mix which he shares the same name.
The actor on Friday reacted to a viral post of Barangay Taytay Sangguanian Kabataan Councilor Mark Gil Valentin of Majayjay, Laguna, who shared photos of Dingdong signing a pack of Dingdong snack mix.
“Hinihingi ko — ayaw ibigay ni Kuya. Signature over printed name daw,” the actor exclaimed on Facebook with a rolling-on-the-floor laughing emoji.
Dingdong was born Jose Sixto Dantes III, although he is popularly known by his nickname.
According to a 2021 report, he has been using the nickname since childhood.
Meanwhile, Mark on Thursday thanked the actor for visiting Taytay Falls and including it in the latter’s television project.
Taytay Falls is a waterfall in Majayjay, Laguna, whose water source is Mt. Banahaw. It boasts crystal-clear, cool water and is said to be 10 to 15 meters high.
The falls are surrounded by lush greenery.
Mark also shared a behind-the-scenes video of how Dingdong’s signing took place.
It showed him waiting for the actor, who was walking in the direction of the youth councilor.
“Pwede po pa-picture?” Mark asked and then showed Dingdong the snack mix he was holding.
When someone asked if Mark had prepared for the incident, he replied positively.
“Literal na DingDong,” the youth councilor said with a grinning emoji.
The lone photo of Dingdong signing the snack mix also went viral, amassing 75,000 pure laughing reactions, 41,000 shares, and 1,7000 comments so far.
In an interview with the Pilipino Star Ngayon Digital (PSND), Mark said he was on duty at the entrance of the Taytay Falls on March 14.
“Habang inaantay ko si Dingdong Dantes upang [ma-assist] din po sa pagbaba sa falls ay naisipan po ng barkada ko na sabi niya, ‘Konsi, bili ka ng Dingdong nuts tapos try mo magpapirma kay Dingdong.’ So ‘yun po ‘yung challenge [niya] sa akin,” the youth councilor shared.
“At nung malapit na po kami sa falls ay dun na ako [nag-eksena] na kung pu-pwede po na [magpa-pic] at [magpa-sign kay] Sir Dingdong, at natuwa po siya dito,” Mark added.
The incident amused social media users, with some suggesting he sell it to “Boss Toyo,” a content creator who collects items of public figures by buying them from its owners.
“Nawala pagod ni Dingdong, napalitan ng inis. Pwede mo na benta kay Boss Toyo ‘yang plastic niyan, may halaga na ‘yan,” a Facebook user commented.
Mark also had the same thought, as he joked in the comments: “Boss Toyo, pwede na ba ‘to sa’yo, susugod na ako dyan, HAHAHAH”
He also tagged the Facebook page of the content creator.
Meanwhile, the Dingdong snack mix is a medley of peanuts, corn bits, green peas, cornick and curls which is produced by Rebisco.
