A K-pop fan was surprised to find out that her mother had featured the photocards she jokingly placed in their prosperity bowl for the new year and had commented about blessing them.
A TikTok content by user @luv.jaaee featuring screengrabs of the prosperity bowl went viral on the platform, where pictures of SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi, EXO’s Baekhyun and WayV’s WinWin adorned the bowl.
Another screengrab featured a Facebook Story which had the text: “[Kung] sino ka man, [nawa’y] pagpalain mo kami.”
“My Day ng nanay ko,” another text reads.
In another video, the uploader revealed that they have an actual prosperity bowl beside the customized bowl featuring the photocards.
“I have my own prosperity bowl,” the uploader said, referring to the one with the photocards.

The video made its way to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, where it amused a user.
The repost of the TikTok screengrabs has earned a whopping number of 1.1 million views, 14,000 likes and 3,000 shares so far.

It reached the one who created the K-pop prosperity bow, who was identified as Mae.
“[Kasi] naman, tinry ko lang ‘yung nakita ko last year tapos ginawa ko ‘yan, then pagka-open ko ng FB [Facebook], nakita ko [My Day] ni Mama,” she explained with crying emojis.
Mae expounded on the context behind the post in an interview with Pilipino Star Ngayon Digital (PSND).
“Kaya ko po syia ginawa since puro ganyan po ‘yung nakikita ko last new year, 2023,” she said to the news outlet.
“So naisip ko na gawin din, tapos nagjo-joke ako, like, na ‘magma-manifest ako gamit ‘to ng concert tickets, more PC [photocards] to come this 2024,'” Mae added.
“‘Yung reaction po ni Mama nung kinuha ko ‘yung mga PC [ay] nagtataka. Tapos tinanong kung anong gagawin ko sa mga PC, sabi ko, gagawa ako ng prosperity bowl,” she continued.
“Nagtataka na po talaga siya noon, tapos nung natapos na ako gawin ‘yon, tumawa siya. Tapos ilang minutes po, nakita ko na lang po ‘yung My Day niya about sa gawa ko po,” Mae said.
She emphasized that the prosperity bowl she made was just for fun, adding she only wanted to imitate the similar ones she saw on social media last year.
“Also po, baka iba po ‘yung maisip ng ibang tao. Hindi ko po sila, like, sinasamba or so whatever na below the belt na. This was meant to be a joke po, since marami pong gumawa nito last year and ginaya ko lang din po,” the K-pop fan said.
The prosperity bowl has its origins in Chinese culture where it is known as money bar-shaped basket and is filled with rice grains and various lucky charms that symbolize prosperity. It is also believed to attrack luck and fortune.
In the Philippines, a bowl is used instead of a basket. Other items are also added like paper money or real money, coins, ampao envelopes, seeds, fruits, eggs, gemstones, and even herbs and spices.
The bowl is supposed to be filled with items that symbolize wealth, abundance and happiness for the coming year.
Feng Shui consultant Johnson Chua said that using a big bowl is “better” since the bowl represents bounty.
He added that it is best displayed all through the first day of the New Year and then packed away by January 2.
