Broadcast giant ABS-CBN said that it does not tolerate the behavior of the driver of a vehicle bearing its company logo who hit a dog and drove away.
Facebook user Rich Quin on January 2 posted about a white pickup truck with the three-color logo of the network hitting a street dog when he was out on his morning run.
His posts have since been deleted, but some accounts on the X (formerly Twitter) platform were able to take screenshots of them.
A video reportedly showed the vehicle hitting the dog at the crosswalk along Sergeant Esguerra Avenue and Scout Albano St. in Quezon City.
ABS-CBN’s headquarters is located along Sergeant Esguerra Avenue corner Mother Ignacia Street.
Reports said that the driver of the pickup vehicle did not stop when it hit the dog and instead, drove away, leaving the animal crawling to get across the street.
Quin, in a now-deleted post, said that he accompanied the “owner/caretaker” of the dog to the barangay to file a report.
He said that barangay officials offered to take the dog — identified as Warren — to the vet. However, the canine “succumbed [to death] about half an hour or so after the hit and run incident to what seemed like severe injuries inflicted by the pick-up driver who did not even care to stop.”
Quin added that Warren died “surrounded by his pals who have been with him since he was a puppy.”
“I hope that companies that manage and operate vehicles will instill strict discipline [in] their drivers,” he further said.
“It’s so disappointing that many of these vehicles/drivers are from well-known and supposedly responsible companies… Warren, RIP!” Quin added.

Quin later updated the public in a now-deleted post where he said that the broadcasting giant has “identified and suspended” the driver of the particular company vehicle “pending a full investigation.”
He then thanked the broadcast network and concerned citizens for their response to the incident.
“Thank you, ABS-CBN, for taking action on this incident! And most especially to concerned citizens who do not tolerate such reckless actions from undisciplined drivers and motorists,” he wrote.

In a report of PhilSTAR Life, ABS-CBN Corp. Comm said that it is taking action to address the hit-and-run incident.
“We are currently conducting an internal investigation and taking necessary actions to address the matter,” ABS-CBN was quoted by the report as saying.
“We want to emphasize that we do not tolerate such behavior, which goes against the values we uphold,” it added.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 2013, also known as Republic Act 10631, states that it is unlawful “for any person who has custody of an animal to abandon the animal” in the context of ownership or possession.
The law also said that “any person who subjects any animal to cruelty, maltreatment or neglect” upon conviction shall be imprisoned and/or penalized.
