A parish priest gained buzz on social media for his recent message about the breakup of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
The priest’s name is Rev. Fr. Joseph Fidel Roura of Our Lady of La Salette in Bulacan. Video clips of him leading the church’s December 3 Holy Mass recently circulated on social media.
In one of the posts, it was shown that Father Joseph commended Kathryn’s statement, saying it showed how she still values Daniel as a person.
“Nakita niyo walang mga pangit na salita? Walang paninisi. Ni walang patama. Paraphrasing yung sinabi niya, ‘nagsimula ng may respeto, matatapos ng may respeto.’ Ganoon sana. Bakit?” he said.
“Sira na e. Huwag ng wasakin. Basag na e. Wag mo ng durugin. Para may maisalba ka kahit papano,” the priest further said.
Father Joseph also talked about why it seemed Kathryn chose to forgive.
“Kaya pag pinapatawad ka parin, hindi ibigsabihin hindi siya nasaktan. Kapag pinapatawad ka pa rin, ang sinasabi dun ay mas mahalaga ka. Mas matimbang yung pagmamahal sayo kesa sa sakit na binigay mo,” he said.
The X user then expressed that it must be difficult to be Kathryn.

Another Facebook user also uploaded a screenshot of an online Mass where Father Joseph talked about how to take care of a relationship.
“Nasa homily ni father ang KATHNIEL,” the user said, citing key quotes she picked up from it in her post.
Father Joseph also uploaded a five-minute video clip of this homily on his Facebook account with 4.4 million followers.
“Masakit at mahirap para sa isang taong nagmamahal ang piliing sumuko na lang kaysa tuluyan siyang masira dahil sa taong minamahal niya. Kaya sana ingatan natin ang bawat relasyon na meron tayo,” he wrote on the post.
The video has since garnered 2 million views so far, thus making it his most popular one recently. The post garnered 179,000 reactions wherein most were heart reactions.
Kathryn was the first one to announce the end of her 11-year relationship with Daniel via her Instagram account.
Here, she emphasized that what they had was “real” and “genuine.”
“Deej, you gave me 11 beautiful years and the kind of love that I will forever cherish. I will always be grateful for you,” the “A Very Good Girl” star said.
Kathryn further described it as a “chapter closed.”
“I hope this finally helps all of us move forward. I won’t be entertaining questions regarding this anymore. Thank you for understanding,” she said.
