Miss Universe fans reminisce on R’Bonney’s prelims performance, reign

Some pageant fans turned emotional after 71st Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel showcased her green dress, which she designed herself, on Instagram.

R’Bonney uploaded it as her look for the preliminary round of the 72nd Miss Universe competition. It had just concluded earlier in El Salvador.

The Filipino-American model accompanied her post with portraits of a stunning green gown from a collection of her namesake brand R’Bonney Nola.

“Seeing more and more fans, friends, and family every day here for Miss Universe. Y’all are what makes Miss Universe so fun. Who’s ready for [prelims] tonight?” she wrote in the caption.

R’Bonney is set to pass her crown to the next queen who will win the 72nd Miss Universe title on Sunday (Philippine time).

In the comments section, several users expressed how much they will miss her reign as Miss Universe.

“Time [flies] so fast. Still cannot believe she’s gonna [be] finishing her reign and give the crown to the new Miss Universe. Thank you so much, R,” an Instagram user said.

Others reminisced on R’Bonney’s Miss Universe preliminary performance last January.

“Currently reminiscing about your amazing Prelims performance last January,” a user commented on Instagram.

“Love you, Queen! Remembering your prelim performance last year as we look forward to tonight!” another Instagram user expressed.

R’Bonney snagged the elusive crown in the 2022 Miss Universe competition last January 14 evening. (January 15, Sunday, Manila time), thus besting over 80 candidates.

She wowed the audience and the selection committee for her confident delivery of her advocacy on sustainable fashion, citing her experience as an independent fashion designer.

Philippines’ Celeste Cortesi, however, ended her pageant journey early after failing to advance to the Top 20 finalists.
